Prospect Watch: The Chihuahuas took an early 4-0 lead then held on for their fourth victory in five games against the Space Cowboys. Jackson Wolf got the start and had his best outing of the month, going five innings to get the win. It was one of his signature performances, as he threw six different pitches: a cutter, four-seam fastball, changeup, slider, sinker, and curveball. All had movement, most from different arm angles, and while he only reached 90 mph a few times, he induced plenty of weak contact all night. Wolf started the year in San Antonio and finished the year with a 9-4 record across 128.2 innings between the two levels. The 26-year-old is unlikely to be a Rule 5 target this winter, which could lead to a return to El Paso next season. … Luis Campusano went 1-for-2 before he was pinch-hit for, and goes into the final game of the year tied for the lead with a .336 batting average. He will finish with the top on-base percentage, currently .441, and slugging percentage. … Yonathan Perlaza, 26, had a single and a walk, remaining one double away from becoming only the fifth PCL player to record 50 doubles in a season since 2000. He is also one homer away from reaching 20. After hitting 24 home runs and posting an .850 OPS for the Hanwha Eagles in the Korean Baseball Organization last year, he’s in line for an OPS above .900 for the second time at the Triple-A level. The 26-year-old Venezuelan, who has an .831 OPS across eight minor league seasons, is in line for free agency again this winter. … Alek Jacob, 27, got his second save in three Triple-A opportunities. The lefty has posted a 5.27 ERA across 27.1 PCL innings this season, striking out 39 batters against 17 walks. He opened the year in the San Diego bullpen, but got hit hard in several mid-May outings and never fully bounced back. His 5.13 ERA for the Padres is more than double the mark he put up in limited big league action in 2024.
